For over ten years, Heather Johnson, a Care Coordinator at Person Centered Services, has helped empower Austin and his family. As someone with a giving heart, Austin has long held a passion for raising money for the Ronald McDonald House. He began fundraising about four years ago and has completed an annual fundraising event each year to coincide with the Winterfest in Arcade.

While Austin typically offers a cookie sale at the Winterfest parade, this year due to the pandemic he started a virtual basket raffle. Heather donated gift baskets to the raffle and helped promote the event. Through his basket raffle, Austin raised a very impressive $11,200!

Heather is proud to have helped Austin transition from school, connected him to Self-Directed Services, and linked him to volunteer opportunities in his community. For years, she has supported him on his journey and encouraged his generous spirit!

“We wouldn’t be where we are if it wasn’t for Heather,” says Austin’s mother. “It brings to tears to my eyes thinking about it. I don’t even have words for it. For anything that we need, she is right there to do it quickly. Heather is very professional, but she also treats us like friends!”

We’re so happy to make a positive difference in Austin’s life! We look forward to seeing what he accomplishes in the years ahead. You can read more about his fundraising efforts in the Arcade Herald.
