Alize Shares His Artistic Talent
An individual we serve shows us his impressive artwork!
Since the age of five, Alize Williams has made striking works of art. He loves creating large sketches in pencil, taking the time to carefully capture the details in human faces. Alize uses elaborate shading techniques that give his drawings a sense of dimension and depth.
“Alize is very creative,” says Faith Metzger, who coordinates care for Alize through Person Centered Services. “He has so much talent to share.”
Recently, Alize and his family were able to show the Commissioner of the New York State Office for People with Development Disabilities some of his work in person during a special event held by Person Centered Services. Everyone in attendance was impressed by his clear artistic ability.
Faith Metzger is proud to connect Alize to empowering resources. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Alize was laid off from a job he had held for years. With Faith’s support, he has now started a new position at Delta Sonic, where he enjoys power washing vehicles. Additionally, through her efforts, Alize has also received a rental subsidy for a new loft apartment he now lives in.
“Faith is an excellent helper. Anything that I need, I let her know.” says Alize. “She’s a good coordinator.”
Alize, who has autism, is committed to brightening the world around him. Over the years, he has grown as a self-advocate and leader dedicated to making a difference in the Buffalo community. He volunteers at Buffalo Waves Cutterz, where staff have appreciated his help around the barbershop. Alize’s vibrant personality, which led to him being crowned “Prom King” in high school, has endeared him to staff and customers.
“Alize has come a long way and loves to advocate for himself,” says Faith. “He’s just a fantastic person.”
Alize’s family, in turn, also speaks highly of Faith. “She is a joy to work with,” says Alize’s mother, Patty Fleming. “Every time I hear her name, I smile from ear to ear. If it wasn’t for her, I don’t know where Alize would be in his life. Faith was there to help Alize and worked on the necessary steps to get him what he needs.”
Outside of creating art and working in his community, the endlessly talented Alize also enjoys recording hip-hop and showcasing his dancing skills. There is no limit to what he seems able to accomplish.
Person Centered Services is grateful to support Alize Williams and looks forward to seeing the incredible things he does in the years ahead!
