The Person Centered Services Engagement Series is a quarterly discussion to share vital information for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This series is geared towards people receiving Care Coordination, family and caregivers, and anyone else who would benefit from the information shared.
The latest installment will feature Kelly Weiss, Project Coordinator from the Office for the Prevention of Domestic Violence. She will cover a critical topic — how people with disabilities can recognize and prevent domestic and sexual violence.
The event will include discussions on:
-Identifying the problem: information about rates of violence against people with disabilities
-Risk factors that lead to extremely high rates of victimization
-Signs of domestic and sexual violence
-How to create a safe space for disclosure
-Referring and supporting someone with accessing community services
-Prevention, starting with sexuality education and violence prevention programming
