Jamestown Carnival Honors Five-Year Anniversary!
A celebration of our first five years in Jamestown included food, fun, and face painting.
On July 14, our Jamestown location creatively celebrated the fifth anniversary of Person Centered Services and its life-changing work! The celebration was held “carnival-style” in the office’s parking lot. Festivities included games, snacks, tattoos, and plenty of photos.
Carrie Strawder, the Director of Care Coordination for Jamestown, organized this event for her pod. “I wanted to celebrate the people that have been here five years, and the people who are just starting,” she said.
As a leader, Carrie is personally proud of her pod because of how closely they work together and communicate. Carrie finds the work she does as a director to be incredibly rewarding. “The most beneficial thing we get is that we can give people a little bit of happiness, and it goes a long way.”
Reflecting on Person Centered Services as a company, Carrie noted how she loves the transparency of the organization and the clear goals that are displayed.
Heavyn Acosta and her mother, Calista, were also in attendance at the celebration. Heavyn, who receives support from Person Centered Services, showed her artistic talent by running a tattoo and face painting station at the event.
As a person who values her independence but has faced barriers to accessibility, Heavyn said Person Centered Services helps her in multiple ways. “[Care Coordination] has been giving me an opportunity to get out more and continue my life.”
She’s grown a lot with Care Coordination support,” Carrie Strawder said of her niece, who continues to pursue her artistic interests, which include diamond painting and drawing.
