Making a Difference: Care Coordinators Volunteer in Their Communities

During the past month, our Care Coordinators have participated in many great volunteer projects throughout the communities they serve. Here’s just a few examples of how they’ve recently made a difference in their neighborhoods.

United Way Day of Caring

Care Coordinators in our East Region took part in the United Way Day of Caring on May 11. This is the largest single-day volunteer event in the country.

“We wanted to spend the day team building and also giving back to our community,” says Regional Director Care Coordinator Jennifer Clark.

Our employees weren’t afraid to get their hands dirty as they contributed to projects around the Greater Rochester Area. They volunteered at sites throughout the region including Community Action in Batavia, Crossroads House, Heritage Christian Services, Lyon Township Public Library, and Mt. Hope Cemetery.

“Everyone had smiling faces (and some sore muscles), but it was a very successful day!” says Care Coordination Director Ilse Passalacqua.

Feedmore of Western New York

With the help of our corporate leadership team, Feedmore of Western New York was able to package an impressive 3,800 pounds of food into 3,166 meals this year. Additionally, 600 elementary children’s meals were packaged.

We’re proud to be able to use our abilities for the benefit of this nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide meaningful food, support and skills training for those in need in Western New York.

Beautifying Local Communities

Members of our Penn Yan pod volunteered at a recent “Celebrate Service, Celebrate Yates” event. Care Coordinators Erin Lopata and Amelia Lanphear, alongside Care Coordination Supervisor Maria Thompson, joined with family members to repair and beautify the historic Cobblestone Springs retreat in Dundee, NY.

Meanwhile, employees from our Care Coordination pod in Hornell partnered with the City of Hornell, Hornell Partners Inc. and Hornell Central School District to clean up a local park. This community event involved tidying and maintaining the James Street Park to make it more welcoming for all.

Care Coordinator Assistant Mykalinn Snow, Care Coordination Supervisor Holly Tucker, and Care Coordinator Angela Walker were proud to help support their neighborhood and keep the park pristine.

“Spread the Cheer” Bake Sale

Care Coordinators Sarah Matve, Melissa Klenke, and Jessica Niles recently baked goods to raise funds for our “Spread the Cheer” program, which supports families in need during the winter holidays. The bake sale took place at The Resource Center in Jamestown and sold out in 20 minutes.
