Celebrating Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month
Person Centered Services is proud to recognize Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month.
Each March, Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month highlights the contributions, strengths, challenges, and needs of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
U.S statistics show us the importance of this time of reflection and advocacy:
– Of those, 73% were children and 26% were adults.
– About 1 in 6 children in the U.S. has a developmental disability.
At Person Centered Services, we are honored to empower more than 18,000 amazing community members with intellectual and developmental disabilities each day, helping them reach their potential.
Since 1987, the United States has recognized Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month. This observance is not only about educating and informing – it is also about acting. Care Coordinators at Person Centered Services play a critical hands-on role in improving the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. By connecting them to the services, supports, and resources they require to meet their goals and needs, our Care Coordinators make a truly transformative difference.
We are proud to affirm our commitment to creating communities where all people lead fulfilling lives. This means ensuring that people with intellectual and developmental disabilities are better included in our society and gain greater access to opportunities.
We are so grateful to all who are working towards a more just and inclusive world for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities!
