Act Now to Protect Medicaid
The “Big Beautiful Bill” has been approved by the US Senate and is on its way to the House to approve changes in the legislation before the 4th of July

The “Big Beautiful Bill” has been approved by the US Senate and is on its way to the House to approve changes in the legislation before the 4th of July holiday.
Changes include:
- Nearly $1 trillion in Medicaid cuts
- Nearly $200 billion in cuts to SNAP
- A new program that redirects public education funding to private schools
This will directly threaten the services that support New Yorkers with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and their families. Although Congress is not directly proposing cuts to IDD supports, any loss of this size could cause New York State to make cuts across its Medicaid program.
Polls show that the legislation is unpopular with the American people. There is still time to make your voice heard.
If you have a disability, love someone with a disability, and/or work in the IDD field, please take a moment to contact your member of Congress. The easiest way is to use the one-click tool below.
As an alternative, you can look up contact information for your representatives and contact their offices directly.
For more information on the impact this will have on Medicaid, download the presentation below on “Proposed Federal Medicaid Cuts: What They Would Mean to New York and What Can You Do?”
Thank you for supporting our members and their families!
